I have been the Senior Pastor of The Lakes since 1997. Growing up stuck in Lodi California I had never even driven in snow until I received my first call as Pastor in Sturgeon Bay in 1986.
As a child, I worshiped at a traditional Lutheran church where I received solid theological teaching and much love. When I was thirteen years old, I attended a Billy Graham Crusade at the Oakland Coliseum where I gave my life to Christ and received Him as Lord and Savior. The spiritual life of my childhood home was overseen by my Mom (my Dad having died when I was five) who was a full-fledged Holy Spirit filled and empowered believer. I have a great appreciation for these three streams of Christianity- Lutheran, Evangelical and the Pentecostal movement. Pastoring a non-denominational church which desires to expand the Kingdom of God is where my heart is.
I attended and graduated from a college in Tacoma, Washington, receiving a degree in Elementary Education. I did my seminary work in Berkley, California, attending Pacific Lutheran Theological.
I am married to (Pastor) Lisa Stafford and we have two adult children: Claire, and Zachariah. One thing I love to do is brag on my wife who loves to serve Jesus.
Also, I enjoy reading suspense-mysteries and sci-fi. Lisa and I enjoy hiking, especially distance trekking. Six years ago we accomplished a 500 mile thru-hike across Northern Spain and have a 1,000 mile plus thru-hike planned back in Europe in 2022. In the winter I enjoy snowshoeing as it makes Wisconsin winter bearable since you can take the kid out of California but not California out of the kid!
The Holy Spirit brought me to The Lakes in March of 2020 and I have been
blessed with being the Church Administrator ever since. I get great pleasure out of helping The Lakes Bring the Kingdom to the Lost and the Hurting. I am here to keep all of our members informed of the various activities we have going on and to welcome newcomers.
People frequently ask me if I’m related to any of the Peterson’s in the Waupaca area. Unfortunately, we are not related to any of the local Peterson’s. Greg and I both grew up in Ripon and his family roots are from the Abbotsford area.
My family roots are from Waupaca. I spent most of my childhood summers on my grandparents’ farm outside of Waupaca. My husband Greg and I renovated the farmhouse in 2011 and moved to Waupaca. We have a wonderful blended family that provides us with great joy! We have four children and two grandchildren. When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, kayaking, sewing, reading, and checking out caves.
I was born in Oshkosh, WI and aside from a 6 month stint in Seattle, WA I have lived in the area my entire life! I love Wisconsin! This July I will be married to my husband, Ian, for 12 years. We met at Bible college in MO where we were both Youth and Family Ministry majors. We don’t have children yet, but thoroughly enjoy the company of our wonderful cat, Chloe, and adorable and energetic puggle, Nova. I have the best nieces and nephews in the whole world! I adore being an Auntie:)
I am super passionate about horses, health-food, gardening and the grace Jesus has shown to me! If you want to get me talking…start a conversation on one of those topics! I enjoy my work here at The Lakes and am honored to serve this church family. Haven’t met me yet? My office is across from the kitchen… come and say hi!
I grew up in Pine River, a small town south of Waupaca and was home
schooled 3rd grade through High School. I went to college at Central
Christian College of the Bible and graduated in 2006. I am currently working
on my Masters of Transformational Leadership from Bethel Seminary.
In 2004 I married my high school sweetheart, William Postel. We have four
children; two sons, Zephaniah and Micah, and two daughters, Aravis and
I enjoy coffee, reading, hiking and team leadership. As a family we love
camping in National Parks, hiking biking and boating!
I have been involved in leadership roles here at The Lakes since 2007,
starting my position as Children’s Ministry Coordinator in 2010. In January
2021 I was ordained and officially became the Associate Pastor as well. I
love The Lakes and consider it a privilege to serve God here!
